I'd like to take this opportunity to feature EnGamer Network's latest project to assist with the Clan recruitment effort.

I'd like to present Looking For Clan.

We're constantly finding that each new game offers their own unique platforms for clan recruitment. While these tools are useful, it's a constant uphill battle to ensure your clan is properly represented on each new system.

LFC aims to address that. We're setting up a single portal covering all games and platforms. Our mission is to ensure Players and Clans have access to everything across the board in one place. Clans can create profiles and mark the games / platforms they support.

Meanwhile, players can create listings and mark the games and platforms they want to play. The whole system is geared towards matching clans and players to each-other.

We've already got a section dedicated to Minecraft Clans so make sure your clan is listed for maximum exposure.

This is the first stable release, so you can expect much more from the site as we move forwards into a bright and prosperous future.

This new service will be run in parallel to Minecraft Clans, so anyone still using this site as a base of operations can continue to do so!

A recent interview with Mojang revealed future plans to allow users to change their names. Not only thing, but a number of old and inactive usernames will be free'd up for the modern active players.

Here's a quick summary of the interview:

Posted by MojangWhen? When! When?!
We plan to make name changing available on February 4th.

What do I need to do this? Will it cost money?
The only thing you need is a Mojang account. If you currently sign in to Minecraft with an email address, you’re all good! Otherwise, you can migrate your old Minecraft account here. There are no other requirements, and it does not cost any money.

It sounds good! Where can I do it?
Just head on over to your Mojang account page! Once the feature is made available you’ll see a “change” link next to your Minecraft name.

Can I steal somebody’s name? Can I call myself “Dinnerbone” too?
No. There is already somebody called Dinnerbone and names are still unique. You can’t have the same name as another player; they will have to change their name for you to be able to take it. 37 days after they change their name, the old one will become available.

What about all those unpaid usernames from so many years ago?
We will be freeing up all those old unpaid usernames when the new name changing feature is released. If you have an old unpaid name that you’d like to keep, there’s still time to buy it! Read this help article to learn how.

Can I change the capitalization of my name?
Yes, you can!

Does this mean that I can pick a new name every day?
No. After changing your name you have to wait 30 days before you can do it again.

What if I change my name and then realise that I don’t like it? Can I change back to my old name?
Yes, you can. You still have to wait the 30 days though.

If I ban a player “Foo” and he changes name to “Bar”, will he stay banned?
Yes. Same for whitelisted players and oped players. They also keep their inventory, pets, statistics and everything they own on a server.

How will this work with mods? What about my custom stuff on this one modded server?
Ask your mod maker/server owner. Mods should be able to support this system easily and most already do, but we aren’t responsible for mods or servers!

Can I have a hug?
*hugs*

February 4th is the date to mark in your diaries.

For our readers, what username will you be trying to claim when the day finally comes?

One of our passions is building epic structures in Minecraft. To help get the ball rolling, we'd love to hear what the community is working on. Whether it's something you completed a while back, or a project that's in-progess, we'd love to hear about it.

Head over to the Minecraft Creation Showcase thread and let us know what you're working on.

If it's good enough, we may just spotlight it in our main news feed to give you some extra exposure wink

Keep on trucking Minecraft fans!

Anyone who plays Minecraft is familiar with the Microsoft/Mojang merge which has been widely publicised in recent weeks.

Today marks the first day in which Mojang is officially owned by Microsoft as announced in a recent Twitter Post.

What does this mean exactly? Well, not a lot in the immediate future. For now, we can expect things to continue as normal. However, the distant future may hold some exciting new changes for the game. Microsoft's pool of funding will ultimately allow it to branch out like never before.

Simply put, it's an exciting time to be part of the ever growing Minecraft community.

On the other hand, many Minecraft fans are worried about the change in management. Without Mojang founders at the helm, what will happen to the game? Microsoft's track record with PC games has seen a few flops in the past.

However, we're confident that Microsoft will usher in a new golden age for the game. Provided the right people are at the helm, the only way is up for the Minecraft universe.

We'd love to hear what you think about the recent takeover. Let us know whether you think Minecraft will sink or swim.
